According to the map and introduction, Issa's journey passed through Northern India and reached as far west as foothills of the himalaya mountains. In this time, many groups of spiritual teachers lived in this areas, and they like Issa questioned the religious beliefs and authority of orthodox Brahaminism who worshiped the Vedas. Issa could have studied spiritual texts and visited groups spiritual seekers who had rejected the Vedas. Lumbini, Sarnath, Benares, Vaisalu, Nalanda, Bodgaya, and Rajagrha all contained sacred sites and still attract spiritual seekers today. After having perfected himself in the Pali language, Issa applied himself to the study of the sacred writings of the Sutras. Issa's understanding of the Pali language would have allowed him to study of the Pali Canon and many of the early Mahayana Sutras. The early Mahayana Sutras were written starting in 100 BC and the writing and study of these early Sutras continued until approximately 100 AD.
