Really? Those are big numbers. The EU25 ran a surplus with the USA to the tune of 53.8 bn euro in January-August 2005 compared with +48.2 bn in January-August 2004, and Holland runs Europe's second largest trade surplus overall:

"Concerning the total trade of Member States, the largest surplus was observed in Germany (+109.1 bn euro in January-August 2005), followed by the Netherlands (+22.7 bn), Ireland (+22.4 bn) and Sweden (+11.2 bn). The United Kingdom (-65.5 bn) registered the largest deficit, followed by Spain (-47.2 bn), France (-19.3 bn) and Greece (-19.2 bn)."

Is Silicone Valley really that big? I can't find anything that accounts for the number. Holland has an incredibly efficient economy and manages to run a huge surplus with Germany for instance.
