Well, so there is NO advantages today on a desktop. The simple fact is that 99% of all computer users don't need neither Hyper Threading nor Dual Core. What they need is a good operating system -- simple, reliable, not prone to attacks. Windows is a tax on our society. Windows is a prime example where the capitalism failed to deliver a good product.

For the life of me I don't understand why would anyone want to be an early adopter of Microsoft's bugware.

98% users don't want to be moving anywhere. Existing stuff is 100% good for them. Just if it worked as promised.
