Bush admitted to an impeachable crime on national TV. It is a serious crime to wiretap without a warrant. Especially when there is a special FISA court set up for expressedly the purpose Bush claims he had, snooping on suspects ASAP without delay. There is simply no excuse for this.

Bush has also violated the Constitution by trying to eliminate the checks and balances and violate privacy rights. He has, indeed, tried to promote himself to dictator or king. That is a cardinal crime in a democracy like ours. We must have zero tolerance for it or we are inviting the end of what we know as the USA.

Bush's excuses for this falls apart with the slightest bit of scrutiny. Not a single credible legal scholar agrees with him. The Supreme Court voted 9-0 against this sort of thing, and Nixon was kicked out of office for less.

In fact the only possible reason for what Bush did was so he could illegaly and maliciously spy on political opponents, including democrats, the press, the UN and maybe even judges, lawyers and prosecutors. DOn't be fooled by Bush's Al Qaida talk. He has a long record of ignoring Al Qaida type threats but going after local political opponents.
