You'll find enough pro and con BS, re: whether Bush broke the law or not to cover all the kimchi producing fields in Korea.

You're using your argument set, to reinforce your position that Bush broke the law. That's your right, but that's where it should stop. Please quit trying to convince others on this thread of your persuasion (I don't think you'll succeed).

Reality is, that we ARE in a war and our commander in chief is using vehicles he deems necessary to fight this war.

The arm chair quarterbacking that takes place on this thread (and others) is not privy to what or how much of a Top Secret effort has been compromised. I personally don't know why data mining is classified as such, but perhaps others do.

When and IF the anti Bush crowd comes up with a cogent, well thought out solution to allow the NYT, and others to take part in criminal acts (and yes, that's my personal opinion), I'll be more than happy to listen.

For the present, though, I hope some newspaper people in NYC are not having much of a happy new year.

You are avoiding a fact.

Virtually every major terrorist attack targeting Americans in the last 20 years have been carried out by Islamic fascists. The only significant exception was the Oklahoma City bombing and those guys were caught and imprisoned or executed. There was no real organization in the OK City bombing, just three jerks.

Islamic fascists are much much more dangerous. The danger is so much greater due to their widespread hate, their organization and their numbers. Plus we are infiltrated by their sympathizers by the thousands.

The war against Islamic fascists is arguably the most dangerous war we have ever been in. We can not surrender or we are dead.

<We took our eye off of our enemy and consequently he roams yet free.>

I would argue that we have not taken our eye off of the enemy and the President is using every means possible to catch them. You seem to feel that there are rules in this knife fight and the reality is different than your perception.

How would you go about preventing what this enemy is attempting to do in our backyard ?

Should we have broken the Constitution and Bill of Rights to listen to every American after the Oklahoma bombing because we were at war with "these bastards"?

There you go again, implying that the NSA surveillance program is unconstitutional. What's your authority?

Also, don't you think the term every American is a little hyperbolic?

By the way, you never did respond:
