I think that we will soon see that the premium applications will soon only be 64 bit. It will be simply a repeat of the 80286 and 80386 days in the early 90s.

The Intel 915 chipset (Alviso/Sonoma) only supports 2GB. The theoretical physical address limit for the Pentium M is 64GB (36 address pins) to my knowledge but as far as I know for this processor no chipset has been implemented that can use more than 2GB.

My 64 bit system only has 2GB of memory but I am looking for a motherboard with an 8GB or larger capacity, maybe a Tyan. However, I haven't seen yet any socket 939 based boards that support larger than 4GBs though cheaper Opterons are now becoming available.
