Hi DJEhuty. If you read the USGL annual reports you will see that at one point USGL had the Tonkin Springs property optioned to Bac Tech. Bac Tech was doing some form of biological extraction of gold and bought into USGL to demonstrate their technology. Unfortunately at some point Bac Tech got into financial trouble and was unable to make required payments to USGL and as a result ended up defaulting on their option and the property reverted to 100% ownership by USGL. Several of the Cortez Trend maps floating around out there still have Bac Tech listed on the USGL property. Since that is old news that should tell you something about the quality/timeliness of the map.

This map has the proper USGL listing. Not certain as to its veracity elsewhere, thought pretty certain it accurately shows the locations of Miranda Gold properties! <ggg>

Hi! I think H33 answered your questions, and better than I could. His Miranda map link is good - the map section shown is a part of a somewhat larger map issued by the companies listed in the corner. I believe the full size print map, of which I have a copy, costs $20 (I got a freebie at the SF Gold Show). It is a 2x3 foot paper print of the properties as of June, 2005. The McEwen cat is out of the bag, now, and I agree that it is tough to find anything with good potential that hasn't already been bid up. There are dozens of companies with one to many properties each, and various existing agreements with the big boys (Newmont, Barrick and Placer Dome). It gets very complicated quite quickly. But just as some people are throwing money at Sinclair (TRE), I suppose it couldn't hurt to throw some at McEwen, too. And don't forget Telfer (GG, SLW)! Best of fortune!

Bactech no longer has any interest in Nevada.

Here's a more recent map of the Cortez Trend:
