Thanks for the words of wisdom.

I can't do the straight shorts in my RRSP, and I don't particularly like options. The puts don't work very well in a maniacal stage of the bubble. I learnt that lesson with NASADQ at the end of 1999 when I was trying to pin point the top. The only time I made money on puts was when I bought them one day before the earnings announcements and the stock cratered 30%-40% the next day.
