I guess time will tell. My personal experience is thus:

When the market is hot Realtors are regarded as a notch ot two below used car salesmen and attorneys but maybe a half notch above Bush. FSBO's and cut rate firms sprout like weeds in a spring garden.

When the markets in the tank they are still regarded the same, but sellers will gladly pay 6% or even up to 10% if that blankety blank Realtor can just sell that house!
