A great deal depends too on the reasons why....... My experience with addicts.. They are extremely sensitive and perceive the world differently from us so called well adjusted. Personal events effect them differently.. As James said in his interview with Oprah yesterday. He could endure reconstructive teeth work and root canal without anesthesia.. That pain to him... which others could not endure including yours truly, was less painful to him than EMOTIONAL pain. The final glitch on his rage which he had all his life can be traced back to ear infections in both ears which were not diagnosed until he was two years. So all of his screaming as a child.. that his parents could not understand emanated from the great pain he was in . He has hearing loss in both ears. Imagine a baby who cannot communicate in that kind of pain.. It would cause RAGE...
