He would need to declare his intentions to turn pro by Jan. 15 He can transfer to a Division I-AA school for the final year of his eligibility. He would be immediately eligible. He can accept a suspension -- likely only one game but maybe more -- at the start of next season with the understanding that one more on-field or off-field incident would result in dismissal from the team. Two of the sources said Vick may even be required to sit out spring practice, though that hasn't been determined. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<timesdispatch.com <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Thanks for the supportive words, shadowman. You are right about the numerous cheap shots. The increasingly blatant unsportsmanlike behavior by these same jerks in the West Virgina, Marland and Virginia games finally led me to stop posting here even though I should have been excited about their luck with Miami blowing its chance to score the winning points in the final seconds of the Miami - Gerogia Tech game. I had started to post comments about those other games in my old posts but edited out the negative bitching in a futile attempt to take the high road and ignore the bad actors. There are many web pages devoted to VaTech's thuggery. :( Here is one with links to things like the finger, elbowing the coach, etc:thewizardofodds.blogspot.com including this video of the most egregious incident from a rear perspective:media.putfile.com In the video above, it is clear that Marcus Vick also lifted his weight off his left leg and bounced all of this mass on the right foot on the back of Dumervil's knee. The ABC video from the front in real time shows Marcus Vick stopped, looked down and aimed his right foot in the area most likely to injure Dumervil. I do not have a web link for that yet. VaTech should make this stunt a turning point for a renewed focus on everyone to set and demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmandship, honor, integrity and empathy. Empathy might seem like a strange word to use in the context of the super competitive world of near-pro football but what possible reason can there be beyond Schadenfreude for Jimmy Williams to taut the opposing team members during regulation play with a childish bobble head song and dance with finger pointing about what losers the other guys are when you are leading by an insurmountable point score in the final minutes? Seeing that kind of hateful behavior really steams my oysters. My apologies to all the good players and fans supporting VaTech if it seems I am beating a dead horse here. It is a shame that these few seconds of thuggery overshadow 100% of the effort by 98% of the players which is so exemplary. The other guys deserve a lot better. -------------------- More "in the news" links: >>>>>>>>Gator Bowl referee calls Virginia Tech's first-half behavior `brutal' Virginia Tech players were out of control during the first half of the Gator Bowl, and Hokies quarterback Marcus Vick should have been ejected for stomping on a prone Louisville defender, the game's referee said Wednesday. <<<<<<<<<<mercurynews.com <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Governor said watching Vick makes his heart sink.mercurynews.com
