Kerry announced a plan for withdrawl from Iraq starting with 20,000 last month (which Bush didn't do), gradually withdrawing almost completely from Iraq by the end of 2006.

Murtha's plan was not as concise but seemed to be to accelerate that process even further.

Hillary is not the one people aree listening to vis a vis Iraq. The democratic leaders on Iraq are Kerry, Murtha, Biden and Feingold. Feingold is the most anti-war and may run for president as the liberal candidate in 2008. But Democrats would be much smarter to pick Kerry or Warner, which they probably will. However, 2006 comes first and if you want to make a difference, pick a Bushie congressman to help beat and contribute.

I think the Dems are just corporate whores, just as the Repugnicans are. They just have a slightly different cast of stringpullers and funders. Citizens in this country are just consumers and pawns to be manipulated, only of any value at election time. Lately, the Repugnicans seem much more effective at doing the manipulating, but they may have reached a turning point in their hubris. The Repugnicans have done wonders conning the Christian right and organizing through churches - but that's a stupid group that begs to BE conned, as they already are by the Fallwells, the Benny Hinn's and other false TV prophets. The Repugnicans were smart to court them.

The divided government of the Clinton years may be the best we can hope for now.
