It seems that our definition of democracy includes the president overriding the constitution whenever he personally deems it necessary, then whining and lashing out when he is called on it.

Which makes headlines around the world, very loud headlines. That's a big part of what can drive foreign voters to opt for regimes that are emotionally appealing, even though they are likely to be economic disasters.
