I would give JFK a pass but it was on his watch that Diem was assassinated and that changed everything. Remember the saying "if you break it, you own it"?
The fact that we had advisors there or were trying to aid the south so they wouldnt be swallowed up by the communist/nationalist North is not the same as assasination the president and then building forces up to 500k under LBJ.
