We bought one to support their Beyond TV which came bundled with our tuner card. It works ok, but it is clearly intended to mimic a Tivo. The UI has far too little information on a 20.1" LCD monitor, the characters are like an inch high. It has some good features, having the show being buffered at all times is good, but dumping the buffer when you change channels is bad, it should be optional.

I think the best way to do this is to have a computer in the closet with multiple tuners and a very large RAID 5 array. That way the TV shows are watched across the network, 802.11g has enough bandwidth to support 3-4 streams of video and 100mbit or gigabit ethernet does a fine job for wired machines. Your living room device wouldn't need much processing power, a high end Geode would be just fine, and could be small and fanless. Maybe include a DVD/CDROM drive to rip and/or play CDs and DVDs. Include 802.11g, a LCD display and a remote, and you'd be set.
