History is full of people who did not make any (real) money on their inventions. Look at the GI who invented Velcro. His died basically pennyless-(sp??)
And they was the guy who sold his patent for the auger drilling bit to his bartender for his past due bill. That patent was estimated to be worth 2+ billion...
