As strange as it sounds, I think the next wave of freedom will be the 3rd world. The problem with modern culture is that a society cannot document everyone's life from cradle to grave and still call itself free. * * *

It took 2 generations to abolish slavery here in the US. When everyone looks back at history, these years will mark the democratic reshaping of the Middle East. Freedom comes at a price. The democrats know that what is happening now is good for the world. Unfortunately, if they came out and said it, it would be political suicide. Then again, it's unfortunate that they found other means of political suicide by undermining the effort.
