I agree the numbers I showed are hypothetical and are before any skill is considered - and maybe I exaggerated the chances of the short winning in a down market because to the skill factor. But when you start with one contestant having something like a 15:1 a priori advantage over everyone else before this gets reduced by the skill factor, I think the odds are simply too long to make it a fair contest.
