Its unsustainable right now, if it were not for insurance it would be impossible for average Americans to pay these bills. I have heard that people who live near the Mexican border often go there WITHOUT insurance to one of their hospitals for many procedures.
My mother in law just broke her hip in the Philippines. She is in her 80's and had a hip replacement operation. My wife, and her two siblings here in the states are paying the bill. The ENTIRE COST of the operation, hospital stay, and followup doctors care is 3 x's $1,800 or $5,400. jdn
