the universe operates according to scientific principles that can be deduced using reason.

Day in and day out, billions of us see how the universe operates. All there needs to be is one good example to shatter the scientific principle, but so far we haven't found one.

Still, a lot of us think there has to be more than this - what we can see every day. There is no reason why a scientist can not believe in God. It does not have to be mutually exclusive.

At the same time, there is also no reason for a scientist to reject a concept of a God. No good scientist could ever arrive at a conclusion that there is no God. That would be proving a negative - which would be something that science can't do.

But, please, for God's sake, don't impose your (generically speaking) concept of God on someone else.

I believe what is being condemned is throwing up your hands and concluding "God did it" whenever you're stumped.

My reading indicates the scientists condemning ID are opposed to concluding God did anything. They say so very clearly.
