instigator, you are the idiot. It was the SS surplus that allowed them to give huge tax cuts to the wealthy. You have been conned and don't even know it. Happy Retirement!

In 2004, the three poorest States voted for Bush and the three wealthiest States voted for that loser Hanoi john... this is clear proof that the true line of demarcation between the demohacks and the Republicans is not wealth, but religiosity and basic values... this is what kennyboy and his crony political hacks still fail to realize... the true line of demarcation has been redrawn in a post 9/11 world, and the demohack mantras of years gone by just won't work for them anymore... those who lack common sense, lack loyalty to America, lack courage, lack basic values, lack any belief system whatsoever, and lack respect for others will continue to side with the demohack losers...

(Er... every administration since the first Reagan term has used the temporary surpluses in Social Security to *disguise* the true size of our current accounts deficits. although the FIRST administration to ever use this accounting trick was LBJ's, but he only did it for one year, and for a 'nominal' amount of money [around a billion, I believe].)

But, with the aging of the Baby Boomers into prime earning years, the S.S. surplus has soared annually into the hundreds of Billions... which has allowed Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II to literally 'paper-over' and hide truly MASSIVE amounts in the annual deficits.
