Carroll was right. Whoever had the ball with time enough to score last was the winner of that game. It was defense-free. Notice the futility of all those blitzes that Carroll called toward the end. A blitz is like a trick play, and when you overdo it, there is no element of surprise.

Vince Young certainly looked like Michael Vick out there. Did USC assign a middle linebacker to him to stop the run, like many NFL teams do for Vick? I didn't see it if they did.

Along with being the head coach, Carroll also is the D-coordinator.

Heck he already blew the first opportunity when Matt's feeble attempt of a q-back sneak failed on a 4 & 1. Lets try it again, he says. They can't stop us twice, we have 2 H-Trophy winners in our backfield. Ha, he never used Bush on either 4 down situations. Why not?

Think about the message that Carroll sent to his defensive squad when they went for it the second time. If I were playing defense the message was he doesn't trust us. That decision just let the air let out of my sails because my coach, who I worked my butt off for all season and 3 years prior, doesn't think I can do the job, no matter where the ball ends up.

What a way to end a college career.

JMHO.
