It looks like they are going to try and compete with the iPod....not sure that is a great idea.

Looks like Sandisk is directly targeting iPod shuffle (c series) and iPod nano (e series). Interesting strategy, not terrible if their early expectations are modest, say 5-10% market share, but the offer is very strong and I expect it may beat that! A quick comparison in size is that it's the same length (3.5") and a tad wider (tad = 0.1"). The screen is also 3 tads bigger. But, it's twice as thick (0.5" versus 0.27"). No weight spec to compare to the 1.5 ounce nano, but just guessing, expect it to be about an ounce heavier. We'll have to see about battery life.
Early pluses and minuses for the e series:
-it's not an iPod
-it's twice as thick
+slightly bigger screen
+FM tuner
+microSD expansion slot

Note that at $50/GB for 2 GB difference between models at MSRP, that comes to just over $3/Gbit!?! If you wanted to use the 6GB model as a flash drive (didn't see the specification, but assume you could - ?universal connector = mini USB?), it's about $6/Gbit and cheaper than current flash drives!

They've pre-empted any Apple announcement of iPod shuffle with screen/1GB nano (and if Apple doesn't have something in that area, they're going to lose some market share to this).
Early pluses and minuses for the c series:
-it's not an iPod
+has screen
+FM tuner
+microphone
+AAA battery (in my opinion)
