Yeah, I can't decide on vouchers. I see both sides.

Our local public high school is on a list of best schools in the nation (I saw it in Parade magazine, I'm not sure who drew up the list). Even so, the religious community here is very vocal that the school is full of problems. In reality they are having a hard time getting parents to pay for their taliban-schools and so they want to scare parents by saying the school is a den of drugs and sex.

re: So it works both ways......parents have to commit and the school system has to be better run.

Of course that's the solution. But right here, right now, there are a whole bunch of parents that want the best education for their kids, and they are in a lousy district, and they can't afford a private school. What do you say to them?

I'm not informed enough to hold an "educated" opinion. Hell, I went to private school, it was lower rated than my local public school (one of the best in the country) and I HATED private school.

Now, no kids. Just property taxes that support other peoples kids. I would like to get my money worth.
