A pork belly is the actual name for the cut of the hog. This cut is then used for commercial pork supplies of bacon, pork meat, etc. Yes Virginia, pork bellies do exixst. The only commodities that I ever traded were gold and silver futures, and that was a long time ago. All of the commodities that are traded are backed up by actual commodities, though most of the trades are closed out before anyone has to take physical delivery.
