aha, but that is why I said this:
I see this as being a less successful application than open pit applications due to interference of heavy machinery with no alternate wireless paths.

Right now, the open pit applications are very real, the underground mine guys are just putting their feelers out now.

However, on the subway application, I have a small test network in place in a korean subway that is working just fine and providing internet access and live video surveillance on the moving train. Obviously the antennas have to be positioned with a line of sight.

Admittedly, rail cars in a tunnel are much more predictable in their path than mining equipment, so a network can be deployed more effectively.
