It all depends. Officers take their oath to defend the Constitution. But there will be some who would choose to violate that oath. Case in point, Ollie North who publicly proclaimed his personal loyalty to Reagan. He should have been court marshalled at that point, and it actually was a close thing, but I guess the military didn't really want to get into trying to explain the reasons for doing that and he was allowed to resign. That probably was a bad choice because it is extremely important to enforce such things.
