Not having "..read it all.." nor having contacted the company, I would suggest that a car's computer controlled operations could certainly be arranged to require a download off of the CyberKey to be able to run. Then, if you couple that with a PIN code entry, it would make it near impossible to steal without a tow truck. A "..smart.." brake module could keep the front disc brakes engaged in Park-mode, until the CK and PIN were properly entered.

Drag racers have had manual front brake locks for years, so they could burn the rears then release the fronts when the Christmas tree went green.

The CyberKey is a Read-Write device. So, for personal, rentals, or company fleet vehicles, it could also handle all the record keeping, preventative maintenance advisories, and mileage data for each vehicle and specific to each person using them - including speed and routes with a GPS interface. When you go in the office, they could have a kiosk in the lobby where you insert your CK and it downloads the vehicle usage info, or you could do it at your PC by poking your key-fob in the USB (game) port for auto-download to the system via the network; once a week or once per pay-period, etc. This could be advantageous in recording keeping for IRS purposes for the independent businessman or self-employed using several of the family cars for business purposes - it would be trip specific - and every event could be placed in either one's personal or business trip journals with route a GPS back-up to eliminate any bitchy IRS agent queries.

Now this is a bit Big Brother-ish, but for people who are working off a DUI sentence, it would be possible to program the key/car so that it would only operate in the daytime (..using some auto-headlight photocell and internal CPU clock functions..). Add a GPS confirmation link, and they could limit you to work, the grocery store, taking the kids to school, the mall, church, Aunt Tilly's, and the hospital, etc. That would beat having no driving privileges at all. For teens, you could restrict operation to school and the library - eliminating joy rides and lover's lane.

If the car strayed a 1/2 mile off course, it could alarm the driver, slow to 20MPH-max for a turn-around option, and then shut-off completely if that action wasn't taken.

John :-)
