Great story and I can really sympathize.

Walmart is an incredibly tough customer. Here is a personal anecdote.

My company did the Cisco VoIP system installation at Walmart.com. Cisco had shown Walmart their new beta version in order to get the sale and then chose us to do the implementation. However, they wouldn't release the new version to us for implementation saying that they had made Walmart aware of that fact.

We purchased all the equipment from Cisco and then resold it to Walmart and added extensive customizations and implementation services. Once the install was complete and the system up and functional, Walmart management complained that the feature set was not the same as was presented by Cisco.

We made them aware of the Cisco position and promised a free upgrade to the new version as soon as Cisco made it available. No dice. Walmart did not pay for any of the equipment or services for about a year until the upgrade. It nearly took us out of business.
