A relative by marriage is going to back for his third tour of duty - this time in Afghanistan. His grandmother thinks it's wonderful that the Army calls him all the time while he's on leave to "make sure he's happy." They're calling to make sure he's not going awol.
It's impossible to know that threat of a draft would lift kids out of their lethargy and lead them into the streets in protest. Over the last 100 years, we've been so dumbed down in this country, it's a wonder any of us can think at all. Now, add Ritalin/Prozac to the mix...and you have someone like that boy's grandmother who thinks the Army just loves her grandson, and you have that boy who thinks he's fighting for "freedom." HA.
