I'm familiar with that story. In that case her passing out is an explanation for something odd. Had she been in the gym working out or stuffing herself at the buffet, those would have been explanations, too, equally good. I don't see the special utility of drug use in that case.

Perhaps it's not working for me because your example is about someone who is not a defendant.
