"Most will give it up if it gets in the way of what they really want to do. If it doesn't get in the way it isn't really a problem anyway." Motivation to achieve anything is highly impacted by the internal efficacy of the participant. Pot smoking impacts short term memory and cognitive processing. Participants are not likely to have success in school where cognitive functions are determinants of success. This lack of success impacts efficacy for future endeavors as well. Wanting to do something is a function of having had your interest in the thing aroused. Lacking efficacy, limits the interest most people might otherwise have in wanting to do things. So, it becomes self fulfilling that if you are smoking pot you are not likely to want to do things that require high motivation to use cognitive skills. In other words, if kids are using pot without restriction, they are likely to be unmotivated to want to do other stuff. Do you see age as a factor in your proposal?

Have you? On pot? Maybe ....all we would see there is a group of people that continue to get more stupid and lazy with constant use. If these people held down a job to provide for themselves, we "might" see a change, but that remains to be seen.
