ElM, rising intelligence is because, contrary to popular myth, women like smart men. They list that high up their desired characteristics of men. If they don't list "smart", they list "successful", which is much the same thing, however it's measured [even successful criminals are smart]. The others are left on the shelf. It's also because of better diets. Smart brains don't get built out of iodine, folic acid, selenium and other deficiencies. It's also because of less toxicity. Lead stops children developing super-duper brains. Not many people are drinking water from lead-based roof paints now. Children are not chewing lead-based paint. Cars don't spray lead everywhere.

It's not because of tv programmes, or films or toys. TV programmes have been shown to stop brain development in infants. Ask Google. The professional advice is "Do not let children under 3 swim alone in pools or watch tv".

Humans got smart because brains were selected. That process is continuing faster than ever.

I know the times I have nearly been selected out of the gene pool were not the times when I was at my smartest. We lose when our stupidity exceeds our smarts. Those who spend more time in their stupid mode are proportionately more likely to be selected out.

Don't forget that IQ tests measure IQ, not intelligence.
