I don't see the irony at all. In Catholicism there has not been any intra arguments. Those who chose to not believe the Pope is ordained by Christ as his interpreter on earth leave the church and become like the many sects of Islam.

And I'm not certain your interpretation of "has held such different views at different times in the past and even now" is all that complex.

Islam evolved many sects. They adapted to survive. Oil money has made for a power that spreads wahabi Islam. It's wahabi Islam that is closer to Mohammed's documentation.

To be a Christian one can look at Christ's life and know how to act.
