Bernanke is on record for having inflation targets.
If he came out and said 5% I think the markets would be in for a shock.

Now you can think he would be telling a big fat one about 2% but not me. (Note: he did not say what it was but if it was 5% bonds and the market would both choke).

For now, I really believe they are targeting asset prices in the belief (false belief) they can engineer a perfect "soft landing".

I do not have quotes ready at hand but Greenspan spoke several times lately about asset prices. They are clearly on the FED's mind.
