TJ, Chuck Yeager wasn't chose to be an astronaut because he wasn't college educated and hence more independent and not a good PR. Well, at least the film "The Right Stuff" based on Tom Wolfe's book, says so.

Since countries I go I can't watch movies I use this time to catch up. So I watch the new movies and some old I find.

I spend the time reading and mostly recover my lost weight in Tehran. I exercise a lot and eat the highest calories and high protein stuff that I can find. I'm get back 1/2kg per week. Good food and gym three times a week. I can gorge a 1/2kg of strawberries covered with Chantilly. Big espresso with a mountain of whipped cream on top.

Bought bike to roam around vicinity at times my experiment goes together. But with +28C and swimmingpool she prefers to enjoy the pool.

I will try to find in Blockbuster Woody Allen's "Match Point" once the sun goes down a bit.

Oh, barf ! Jerry Springer --- okay, some members of the audience may vote, but it is very unlikely that they give more than a few dollars to any political candidate. For some reason, the Canadian government wants to keep the program off the air in Canada. Does China have anything like Jerry Springer ?

I assume you saw David Suchet as Poirot. I like the period Art Deco sets and locations.
The late Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes was also well done.
There's a new Sherlock that is also good.

If you have any interest in a "Romantic" flick, the new "Pride and Prejudice" is exceeding well done.

Also on BBC there is a short show called "Posh Nosh", a dry send up of all the snobbish food programs. Nicely done, with a wicked wit in some parts.

By the way, the new King Kong movie runs 3 hours - 3:15 with trailers and credits. We saw it at the ArcLight in Hollywood. A very nice movie theartre. Looking at the frist two rows we saw Quentin Tarrantino (screenwriter/director of Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs) and friends. I would give the King Kong about a B- which means it should be one of the better movies this year.

We were at one trendy resturant in Hollywood, and there was open discussion at some tables about box office revenue being down for the 18 consecutive month - the standard answer being that Hollywood thinks it has been making lousy films.

I think the answer is deeper and not in Hollywood's control - too many peopel have set up little home theartres - big screen, THX sound, comfy couch. Cook your own popcorn and snacks, no need to worry about parking, or paying $7 each times 3 kids plus 2 adults.

I think Woody Allen is more than a little weird for marrying his adopted daughter....

*******

If you want to see transgressive humour (meaning dirty jokes and very politically incorrect situations)that's much more funny (most of the time), check out South Park... the first 4-5 seasons are in DVD. Might want to borrow first instead of buying...
