That is far from clear. By some accounts, they never dated at all. The accident was on Nov 6, after 8 pm, so that would be after dark. It is unlikely she even knew who the other car was.

I'm pretty sure she was chatting with her friend, and just screwed up. Go drive with some teens to understand how clueless they are.
