It's not like someone won't kill you for carrying around a lot of greenbacks in the wrong part of town, esp if you flash it around ... the "threat" of carrying gold around is that you can carry a lot of wealth in a small amount of weight??!!! Just because you can carry several thousands of dollars worth around in your pocket, who says you would have to ... I think this is one of those things promulgated by the paper money afficianados.

Au contraire, I think that there is nothing that is more convenient than gold for such purpose. First there is digital gold. Second gold in vaults can be easily transfered. But the future is really to digital gold currencies.
