No society on the face of the earth has changed itself on the scale and at the pace that is taking place in China today -- perhaps you should visit some time. The demographics alone are almost impossible to grasp -- a shift of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of people from the rice patties to the cities in a few decades -- even if all you did was understand that you would have a better idea of what is going on.
