They will get rich selling each other houses but because there are more people in China they can keep doing so for the next 1000 years or so nonstop.

I am pretty confident that the percentage of Americans believing they will get rich or retire rich selling each other's houses is much greater than the percentage of Chinese with that mindset.

Anyone here realize the devastating impacts of global warming and peak energy soon upon us compounded in large part by China transforming it's economy from 10M to 300M cars on the road in a generation?

China is building a nation -- we are destroying one -- our own. Their building process has some very bad side effects but they have certainly done what they set out to do and their economy is in pretty good shape and looks like it is less dependent on us every year. You don't get it Mish -- the US is rapidly shrinking in relative importance, and given the imprudence of our finances, we are likely to implode at some point. When we do implode our vulgar appetites will be missed by those who catered to them, but their lives will go on. It is we who will be left to sit in a corner covered in our own drool and wondering why we are no longer the life of the party.
