According to the World Health Organization and local governments, six countries have had 146 confirmed cases of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu, with 76 fatalities:

- Cambodia: Four cases, four deaths.

- China: Seven cases, three deaths.

- Indonesia: 16 cases, 11 deaths.

- Thailand: 22 cases, 14 deaths.

- Turkey: Four confirmed cases and 11 preliminary diagnoses, two deaths.

- Vietnam: 93 cases, 42 deaths.
