DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources reveal that Haddam has now gained backing not only from the US and France, but also from Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

If for once all these four are on the same page, then something is really going to happen!

Don't forget that Egypt has been sucking at the American tit for years. As a matter of fact, lots of folks believe, rightly or wrongly, that the US has been doling huge financial aid to Egypt for years to bribe Egypt into not being troublesome to Israel and then some.

Don't forget that Saudi Arabia has also, in a sense, been sucking at the American tit. In this case, it is for protection's sake, especially when the Royal House of Saud knows and most others know that it has illegitimate origins. As the House of Saud fears the Shi-ites of Iran and Iraq, it will gladly cooperate with US and Israeli interests and intentions. Needless to say, the US and Israel work hand in glove with one another in the ME as their interests are intertwined.

Perhaps Egypt, more than Saudi Arabia, is feeling beholden to return something for the "aid" they have been getting over the years. Hence their present "cooperation" with regard to the Syrian president issue.

Whoever was responsible for the current chain of events, it could not have been timed better, IMHO, as potential "excuses" suddenly become available, or so it would seem, for some action or other.
