Tuesday, January 10, 2006 4:55:45 AM ET
Dow Jones Newswires

0834 GMT [Dow Jones] Morgan Stanley raises ASML (ASML) target price to EUR21 from EUR16, and sees 17% potential upside in the stock on accelerating industry-wide equipment orders, increased visibility and a continued positive trend in market share, and average selling prices at the company. Analyst says consensus estimates are too low and reflect the company's cautious outlook rather than the current environment. Rates overweight.

re:
Menzies also stated that he expects the company to report quarterly results in a couple of weeks that will show lithography tool shipments of 40 units, though with a higher percentage than previous quarters of 248nm KrF systems due to increased orders from foundries.

Menzies almost used the same words as the CFO did, ie. shipment of 40 litho units, with more 248nm KrF systems than previous estimated.

The CFO said during the presentation of the Q305 figures that he expects, just because of more 248nm KrF systems sold in Q4, the ASP will be lower than in Q3. Also the revenues will be a little bit lower because the 248-nm lithos are cheaper.
What's even more interesting than sold ArF or KrF systems is the orderbook ASML is presenting us next week.
That's the only thing we don't know right now.
