He yearned to be a poet true
but could not find his vision.
Alas, the violets weren't blue!
So much for his precision.

Undaunted then, he sought to play
a fiddle or a harp.
(Perhaps a comb with tissue, say,
would be a better start.)<g>

Fair lilacs then his whimsy drew
for what, I could not say.
They're not the least bit baby blue
though nice in their own way.

The key to lilacs was a rhyme
to please the poet's fancy,
but how to find the words in time
without legilmency*?

The answer, like the nose on face,
is right before your eyes.
Place lilacs in the middle space!
You should be so wise!!<g>
