Those were the days when you could have a Christmas pageant in the public school and nobody thought a thing of it. I remember my own role as a Roman soldier, complete with a toga that my mother made. I thought it looked like a dress and I was very embarrassed about it. That and stage fright had me forgetting my one single line, but my mother saved the day by calling it out to me from the audience.

Not many mothers would do that, but mine did!

I gave my wife a bottle of perfume one of our first years. It was her favorite scent. It was the oil based version. Her reaction after she dumped it out in her purse so she could party after work convinced me to never spend that much on something like that for her again. I never bothered mentioning that it was worth over a hundred dollars.
