kholt: When negative behaviors, in this case political hyperbole, become popularized, common, ubiquitous, I consider that a bad thing.

KLP: What's this [Belafonte comments] called, karen? Sounds like a bad thing to me....

kholt: Good example of what I've been complaining about.

(so far so good, it would seem)

KLP: It's ok for you to have opinions, but no one else should, eh? ...You think Belafonte is a good citizen

kholt: Say what? I'm not going to even ask you where you got that.

KLP: I've noticed that you have the most interesting ways of never answering a question.

What in the world happened here? I complained about bad behaviors, you post an example of bad behavior, I agree that it's a good example of bad behavior....

and then you accuse me of not respecting others' opinions, supporting Belafonte, and not answering your questions.

What in the world is that about? And why do our colloquies always turn out this way?

I don't know any way to fix this kind of communication problem. We make certain basic assumptions when we post to other people, for example, that they can read, follow the gist of an exchange, and focus their responses accordingly. Without that, I don't see any possibility of communication in this medium, where we have only the written word. I have kept trying this long out of curiosity. I keep thinking I can figure out what is going on in your head. But I give up.
