Tax and spend, borrow and spend, lie and spend, it's all the same con job in the end.

I still think there is a big difference.

Let me give you an analogy.

A good jockey can not make a fine thoroughbred run faster than the horse is capable of running.

A lousy jockey, a jockey that does not understand horses, can't ride a horse, and won't take the time to learn anything about horses will run a horse into the ground, run a horse off course, and crash the horse into other horses.

A good politician that gets elected into office is not going to make us into a better society than we are capable of being, but a lousy politician getting elected to high office can do a lot of harm.

Guess what or who I have in mind?

What all those have in common is "spend." Take away their authority to spend and we've licked a lot of our problems. I realize, of course, the difficulty of making that happen, but it's the best solution I can think of. It's the only solution I can think of.
