Absolutely right.

And yes, much of what Shostak says does have a very old fashioned air to it. In my view, his analysis suffers sometimes from trying to fit everything into his doctrinaire approach.

Still, I think his constant focus on what he calls the pool of funding is a valuable reminder that underlying the extravagant financial pyramid lies a real and immutable world.
