re: I don't think it's big employers that are hiring most of the illegals, although some probably do. I think it's small businessmen. The guys that belong to the Rotary and the Masons, attend church on Sunday to network more business and are solid citizens, except that they hire illegal aliens, to work in their businesses, to watch their kids and to do their lawns.

They've gotten away with it for so long, they feel entitled, and would feel greatly abused to lose that "right".

Frankly, it would be a good thing. It used to be, in this country, if you had a really shitty job that needed to be done, you had to pay good wages to have it done. What's wrong with that?

And if a person had a job that was OK but he needed more money to raise his family, he could step down to the shitty job and make more money. Garbage collectors, for instance, made pretty damn good money.

Now, we've flooded the low end job market with illegals, and that puts wage pressure on the next level up. Which puts wage pressure on the next level up.... if an employee can't find a higher paying alternative, then there is no incentive for an employer to pay him more to keep him

And it doesn't matter if it's large or small employers... it's a commodity market. The large employers benefit from the oversupply, even if they don't hire illegals.

It's everyone, not just church folk, just ask an illegal how hard it is to get a social security number. They even receive training in Mexico on how to use our system. My own mother has hired a bunch to do yard work - she met them through a friend with a nursery business. She even sells them airlines tickets back to Mexico to visit their families every year. They don't fly back, but they don't seem to have any trouble returning.
