Using guest workers is a common practice throughout the world, some Asian countries like the Philippines export workers around the world. We are not talking guest workers here.........the ones who come here in the summer and work the harvests moving south as the fall progresses and then winter in Mexico. The guys who stand outside the Home Depot looking for jobs are illegals, not guest workers. They live indefinitely ten individuals to a one bedroom in the crowded inner city of American cities, sending money back periodically to Mexico or Central America. They are the ones who fire guns into the air on Cinco de Mayo or on Mexican independence day in September, and inadvertently wound or kill someone sleeping in their bed as the bullets come through the roof. They are the ones who pee in the streets because that's okay in Mexico. They are the ones who throw their food garbage outside their windows because in rural Mexico the farm animals will eat it. They are the ones who take jobs away from poor whites and blacks......yes, in cities where there are not a large number of illegals, poor blacks and whites do the jobs illegals do in other cities. And some of them contribute to this country's crime problems. For an example, currently one of the most violent street gangs in the US comes out of Guatamala or El Salvador. They have tactics that make our homegrown gangs look like boy scouts. Of course, they are violent because their home countries are violent thanks in part to the underground involvement of the US but we don't want to discuss that issue because it would be so very unAmerican to do so and then you would have to call me a stupid liberal for criticizing the US. In cities where illegals predominate, they are doing considerable damage. Unfortunately, people in those cities are addicted to their cheap labor much like people get addicted to heroin or meth, and so they are of mixed minds when the discussion of illegals comes up. Adding to the problem are native Latinos who want to encourage growth in their community because growth means more votes....so they want us to look the other way when it comes to illegals.......because illegals produce Latino babies that become citizens automatically and vote when they are adults. In a rational country and society that is interested in preserving the common good, allowing a large group of people from another country to live illegally in its cities is a huge mistake for which we will pay dearly some time in the future.
